Civilization II is quite complicated game but very worthwhile when you try it. It was designed by Sid Maier and is probably about $25 bucks now.
Requirements
You must have a 486 or better and the system speed has to be at least 33 Mhz. I advise you to use at least a 66 in order for it to run well. You need a CD Rom drive running MSCDEX with version 2.2 or higher. Civ II is compatible with Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and DOS 5.0 or higher.
You need at least 8m of RAM on your computer.

Civilization II
In order to play CivII you must pick a tribe, I advise the Egyptians if you like to be first in technology and the Romans or Russians for War. Although overall if you have the technology that is the key in winning the game. The best tribe in the game is the Egyptians and thats the bottom line!
The Greeks are also a worthwhile tribe, because they are both somewhat advanced and war like as well. The Americans are also like the Greeks.
The different levels of play are as follows: Cheftain, Warlord, Prince, King, Emperor and Deity. Deity is very very difficult and very challenging.
Strategy
One major strategy is conquer your enemies really fast and get a lot of points this doesn't always work and can really screw you over if you are playing in anything higher than Warlord.
The best advice I could give you would be to try to be the best in technology and then trade your knowledge away for another thing or for peace.
One of the most important things to do while playing this game would be to make trade routes with Caravans and Freight trucks they are very good money wise and for long term peace.
Another thing to consider is Peace, while making it can be good it you break the treaty often your reputation will be ruined and your points will also go down. Also if you have a good reputation then you will be more respected by other tribes. Peace can be very useful or very dangerous depends on how you use it.
